General Rules
Match Play Event Terms of Competition
-
Separate brackets have been established for CRCC, Cariari, and Valle del Sol. Master brackets are for Cariari and Valle del Sol.
-
The venue for the Finals and SemiFinals shall be determined according to the performance demonstrated in the semifinal matches. For example, if the finalist representing Valle secures a victory with a score of 3/2, while the finalist from Cariari Country Club wins with a score of 1/0, then the finalist from Valle shall possess the prerogative to select the location for the final match.
-
In the event of a tie after 18 holes, play shall continue on hole 18 repeatedly until a winner emerges.
Availability:
-
Both opponents have from Monday to Sunday to coordinate their match.
-
Should both parties be unable to agree upon a date, priority will be given to the player available during the weekend. The first preference is Saturday; if unavailable, then Sunday will be considered. For instance, if Player A is only available on Tuesday and Player B solely on Saturday, Player B shall advance to the next round.
-
Once a match date has been confirmed, should a player cancel, their opponent may elect to be declared the winner. It remains at their discretion whether to accept an alternative match date against the player who canceled.
-
In cases involving an international tournament or an ANAGOLF event, participants will have until Tuesday of the following week to complete their match.
-
Committee reserves the right to extend match dates on special occasions.
Medal Play Event Terms of Competition
-
Caddies and carts are allowed at all events.
-
All events are played over 54 holes (WAGR determination) in 9 hole segments. Tie breakers are based on USGA Modified (Last 18, 9, 6, 3, 1 holes)
-

-
Code of Conduct: the Committee is limited to penalizing players for inappropriate conduct using Rule 1.2a. The only penalty available for an act that is contrary to the spirit of the game under that Rule is disqualification. Also can not invite the player in future events.
-
When are results final? When they are posted in the WAGR website.
-
When is a scorecard considered entered? We allow mistakes to be corrected until when next round starts in round 1 and 2. Round 3 we allow 2 hours from last player hands in his scorecard.
Medal Play Event Played Over Different Dates
The USGA and R&A specifically provide for this in their official Committee Procedures. It is common practice for tournaments with large fields, fit modern life’s tough work schedules or for club championships that span multiple weekends.
1. The Committee’s Authority
Under Rule 1.2 and Committee Procedures (Section 5A), the "Committee" (the people running the tournament) has the power to set the "Terms of the Competition." These terms define the dates, the format, and how the winner is determined. If the Committee decides the event will take place over two different Saturdays or across a Monday and a Tuesday, that is perfectly legal.
2. Practice Restrictions (Rule 5.2)
The most important rule to watch out for in "split-date" events is Rule 5.2 (Practicing on Course Before or Between Rounds).
The Standard Rule: In stroke play, you generally cannot practice on the course on the day of a competition before your round starts.
The Split-Date Exception: If a competition is scheduled over multiple days and you are only scheduled to play on Day 2, you are allowed to play or practice on the course on Day 1 (unless the Committee specifically creates a Local Rule to forbid it).
3. Maintaining Fairness
We will try to minimize the impact of changing conditions:
Course Setup: Aim to keep hole locations (pins) and tee positions as similar as possible for both days, though weather is an uncontrollable factor.
4. How a winner is determined in our events
The World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) mandates that, in the event of a tie, the winner shall be decided on the course. Competitors will be required to appear at a designated time to determine the victor. The playoff will be conducted in a sudden death format on the 18th hole and will continue until a winner is established.
-
Juniors:
-
Carts are allowed for Juniors, but we use a version of the "one seat" policy. Explained here: https://champ-admin.usga.org/player/articles/Cart-Policy A caddie or a parent/caddie can drive or ride in the cart, but it you cannot have both alternate sharing with the player.
-
Parents and Spectators are allowed but must maintain a distance. Offenders will be asked to leave the hole or the course.
-
Pros or teachers cannot talk to players during the round
-
First instance for Juniors breaching this rule, warning. 2nd, general penalty. 3rd DQ under serious misconduct. (Rule 1.2a)
Have fun!!
